Chat Module – Overview

The Chat Module adds an AI‑assisted conversational experience directly inside the Portal UI. It helps you explore data assets, ask platform questions, and perform actions faster using natural language. This guide explains what you can do today, how to manage your conversations, and provides a high‑level architecture view so technical users understand how responses are produced.

What You Can Do Today

  • Open / minimize the chat anywhere in the app
  • Float (drag & resize) or dock it to the right side
  • Switch between Data Manager and Q&A chat modes
  • Start multiple separate conversations
  • Rename, search, and delete conversations
  • Persist conversations across sessions (server‑side storage)
  • Import / export your entire conversation history as JSON
  • Send free‑form text questions / prompts
  • Use starter example prompts to get going quickly
  • Receive AI responses with simple list formatting and line breaks
  • Copy assistant messages to clipboard
  • Provide feedback on responses (thumbs up / thumbs down)
  • View auto‑generated pie‑chart visualizations when a response contains structured account balance data
  • Recall your last message with the Arrow Up key
